On June 2, the German Parliament overwhelmingly adopted a resolution declaring the killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915 a genocide. The Armenians of Tbilisi reacted immediately, and at the initiative of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the appreciation flash mob was organized near the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tbilisi.

On June 3, 2016, with the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians and by the order of His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted a Diaconate Exam. The exam was conducted according to the 2014-2015 academic year Diaconate Competency Exam for the 4th year students of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary. Stole-bearer Hovsep Chirakhyan and Stole-bearer Gevorg Antonyan (the Saint Gevorg Cathedral in Tbilisi), Stole-bearer Otari Gigauri (the Saint Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi), Acolyte Petros Gasparyan (the Surb Khach (Holy Cross) Church in Akhalkalaki) have participated in the exam.

On June 1, 2016, the courtyard of the Saint Gevorg Cathedral in Tbilisi at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia played host to a charity painting competition dedicated to the International Children’s Day. The event was initiated by Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation and NGO Georgian Educational Association (GEA) “Tanadgoma”, with the support of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.

The International Black Sea University (IBSU) is a “multinational family”, attended by the students from 20 countries. Student life extends beyond the process of acquiring knowledge; it also includes sporting, cultural, leisure activities and the organization of national festivals based on ethnic and cultural characteristics. On May 23, 2016, the International Black Sea University (IBSU) hosted the third cultural festival. Within the framework of the festival the university students of different ethnic and racial backgrounds presented the traditional costumes, special exhibition stands reflecting places of interest, as well as traditional cuisine. There are 36 Armenian students studying at the IBSU. Armenian students of the university presented the “Armenian corner” at the festival. Well-decorated Armenian stand showed national musical instruments, carpets, paintings and dishes of traditional cuisine such as dolma, gata, shakar-lokum, jingalov hats (Lavash bread stuffed with herbs), sujuk, basturma, etc.
