On March 27, 2016, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili visited the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi to attend a Holy Mass on the occasion of Holy Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Members of delegation included the Head of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze; the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, Sozar Subari; the Chairman of the City Council, Giorgi Alibegashvili; and other state officials.

On March 27, 2016, the churches of the Armenian Diocese in Tbilisi, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli region and Batumi solemnly celebrated Easter with participation of many faithful.

On March 26, 2016, a solemn Candlelight Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Easter eve in the churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.

Good Friday is the day of commemoration of Christ’s tortures, Crucifixion, Death and Burial. Today, the Service of the Crucifixion was conducted in all the churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, following which, the Service of His Burial was held. It is during the Burial service that the symbolic Tomb of Christ, decorated with flowers and candles, is processed around the Church for the faithful to witness and participate.
