On April 10, 2016, in the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, presided over a service for the repose of the souls of soldiers, who died during the clashes along the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. Diplomats from the RA Embassy in Georgia, honorary members of Armenian community, intellectuals, and many parishioners attended the service.

On April 9, 2016, the representatives of the Armenian community in Tbilisi paid tribute to anti-Soviet peaceful protestors tragically killed on April 9, 1989. A commemorative service was delivered near the cross-stone placed in the Saint Etchmiandzin Church courtyard in memory of the April 9 tragedy victims, with the participation of the representatives of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia headed by the clergymen of the Diocese, Rev. Father Narek Ghushyan and Rev. Father Ghevond Topashyan. The clergy prayed for the 21 innocent protestors who demanded restoration of Georgia’s Independence.

On March 31, 2016, a literary and musical evening marking 140 years since the birth of a prominent Armenian lyric, writer and public activist, Avetik Isahakyan, was held in Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The event was initiated by the honored teacher of Armenian language at the Diocesan “St Yeghia” Sunday school, Roza Zohrabyan.
