There may, indeed, be only few families in the world that have grown up and educated children who later became really famed in different spheres of science. The Orbeli family, with their sons Ruben, Levon and Hovsep, is one of them. The meeting of the representatives of the Armenian community in Tbilisi with the director of Tsaghkadzor house museum Marine Buniatyan and senior researcher Gerasim Mkrtchyan, held on October 4 of the current year in “Hayartun” Center at Armenian Diocese in Georgia, was devoted to the exploration of life and activities of the world famous scientists who were born and grown up in Abgar Orbeli and Varvara Arghutyan-Yerkayanabazouks family, the inhabitants of former Tbilisi Sololak district. They later received higher education in St. Petersburg and settled there.

On October 2 of the current year was commemorated as Sargis (Sergo) Darchinyan’s first death anniversary. He was a distinguished Archivist, a famous architect in Tbilisi, researcher of Armenian monuments in Georgia and a great connoisseur. The representatives of the Armenian community in Tbilisi together with Sargis Darchinyan’s relatives and the representatives of the Armenian Embassy in Georgia, accompanied by clergymen of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia visited the pantheon of Armenian writers and public figures in Tbilisi, Khojivank pantheon, where Sargis Darchinyan’s body is buried. Headed by the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop St. Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, requiem was performed for the peace of his soul. Sargis Darchinyan’s tomb was again covered with flowers and there was again the aroma of incense.

On September 27 of the current year, “Hayartun” Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted the founding director of Armenian studies organization “Hayq” Mr. Babken Vardanyan, who was in Tbilisi on a private visit. During the two hours of the meeting the author of numerous studies introduced two parts of the Armenian Nation to the audience. He spoke about the warm relationship between the Diaspora and the Armenians living in Mother Armenia. He also spoke about patriotic objectives and how to realize them. Highlighting the commitment of Armenians to the one thousand and seven hundred years old Christian Faith, he made a detailed speech about living with Faith, about serving God with Bible and Cross.
