On June 11, 2017, with a population of only 350 and located on the southern slope of the Trialeti range the Lomaturtskh village of Akhalkalaki region looked charming . The villagers, children and adults alike, people who had left the village and their families, friends and relatives had come to participate in the solemn ceremony of re-consecration of the newly renovated Surb Prkich (Saint Savior) Church rebuilt 111 years after its first consecration. During the Soviet era, the ancient church had turned into a storage room for collective farmers, a bridal salon and a hall for conducting ceremonies following funerals, and was quickly forgotten.

On June 10, 2017, in the evening, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, accompanied by the clergy, continued his tour to Samtskhe-Javakheti with a visit to the Surb Gevork Church in the village of Arakova. The wooden dome of the church collapsed in 1995. The church was renovated and re-consecrated in 2006, through the charity of the late Meruzhan Tutunjyan and with the support of the locals.
