Commemoration in Memory of the Armenian Genocide Victims in Evangelical Baptist Church |
On March 28, 2015 an event was held at the Baptist Peace Cathedral of Evangelical Baptist Church of Georgia to commemorate the Armenian Genocide victims. The parish had an opportunity to visit the photo exhibition, organized by the Hayartun Center, telling about the Great Crime. Commemorative evening began with the Lord’s Prayer in Armenian and Georgian. The Primate of the Evangelical Bapt Armenologist Diana Ter-Baghdasarova gave a lecture in Georgian and spoke about Turkey’s centuries-old persecution policy against Armenians culminated by the genocide committed by the Young Turks and resulted in death of 1.5 million people. Poetess Maria Movsesova-Kirako The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan thanked spiritual leaders of the Evangelical Baptist Church for delivering Armenian Genocide Commemoration Joint Prayer Service and for sharing Armenians’ pain and grief. His Grace highlighted the assistance provided by the leading countries of the world, which provided shelter to those who survived. At the end of the service, the leaders of the Evangelical Baptist Church, His Grace Archbishop Malkhaz Songhulashvili, His Grace Bishop Ilia Osepashvili and His Grace Bishop Rusudan Gotsiridze delivered a joint prayer service for the longevity of Armenian people, development and strengthening of the Armenian Church, development and prosperity of Armenia. The choirs of Evangelical Baptist and Armenian churches sang religious songs in Armenian and Georgian.
