On March 22, the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia hosted a meeting with a famous poet and extraordinary artist Arevshat Avagyan, which harmonized with the exhibition of works of the well-known poet and painter. The “Vernatun” Union of Armenian Writers of Georgia and the Union of Armenian Artists of Georgia, under the auspices of the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, organized a joint event, which was aimed to present to the Armenian community of Tbilisi the Armenian artist, an apologist for everything new and advanced, who lives inspired in the mainstream of art.

1. CHURCH CONSTRUCTION

During the period under review at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia the following churches and chapels were built and repaired:

2011 - On June 10, 2011 during the visit to Georgia of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians the consecration ceremony of the reconstructed Surb Etchmiadzin Church was held and the opening of the newly built “Hayartun” Center took place.

The Department of Youth Affairs of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia (headed by Gevorg Antonyan) has been cooperating with Public Administration Academy of the Republic of Armenia for one year, and therefore it was decided to conduct Armenian Studies Seminar, initiated by the students of different faculties of the Academy. The project, which was held on March 16, 2014 at the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, was aimed to present institutes of public administration, the development of Armenian-Georgian relations concerning economy, foreign policy, geography and church construction to the Armenians of Georgia and the youth of Tbilisi in particular. Levon Chidilyan delivered a welcome speech and opened the seminar. He presented the work of the Department of Youth Affairs at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, stressing the importance of similar projects implementation for the formation of Armenian national consciousness.

On March 4, 2014 at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia a meeting of religious community leaders of Georgia took place. The Head of the Roman Catholic Church in Georgia, His Eminence Bishop Giuseppe Pasotto, the Bishop of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Georgia, His Eminence Malkhaz Songulashvili, the President of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Georgia, His Eminence Bishop Merab Gaprindashvili, the Head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Georgia, His Eminence Bishop Hans-Joachim Kiderlen, and the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan attended the meeting.
