February 4, 2017, became a special day to the students of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, particularly the students of the “Surb Grigor Narekatsi” (“Saint Gregory of Narek”) Saturday School and the juniors of Taron Dance Group. Led by the Educational Department Director, Eugenia Markosyan, and the Director of the Youth Department, Valeri Badalyan, almost thirty children went on excursion to Experimentorium – Museum of Entertaining Science in Tbilisi.

On January 29, 2017, Akhalkalaki Youth Center hosted an event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Army.

The center’s students of different ages and with different interests, as well as singer Alfon Kulagszyan from the village of Kartikam, participated in the event.

The center’s teachers helped to organize the event, the program included musical, dance and theatrical performances, recitations.

On January 29, 2017, following the Sunday Divine Liturgy at the Surb Prkich Church (Saint Savior), the faithful gathered in the church courtyard near the Khachkar, where Rev. Father Ararat Gumbalyan, Pastor of Armenian community in Adjara, Guria and Imereti, conducted a service for the repose of the souls of those killed in military service, noting in particular the soldiers killed during the 4-day April war. In attendance were RA Consul General in Adjara, Yeghishe Sargsyan; community officials, Armenian intellectuals, civil society members. The people present laid flowers at the Khachkar.

The Armenian Army Day was celebrated in a special way in the Armenian community of Tbilisi. On January 28, 2017, Armenian intellectuals, community officials, civil society members, led by the diplomats from the RA Embassy in Georgia and the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, with the participation of the clergy, laid flowers on the tombs of Armenian generals Mikhail Loris-Melikov, Ivan Lazarev, Boris Shelkovnikov, Arzas Ter-Ghukasov, in the courtyard of the Saint Gevorg Cathedral. In the absence of Armenian statehood, former eminent Armenian military men in Tbilisi not only served in the Imperial Russian Army, but participated in the liberation of primordial Armenian land and supported Armenians during the Russo-Turkish Wars. Those eminent military men became part of the officer corps of the armed forces of the First Republic of Armenia and won the battles of historical significance in the future.

During the quarter-century of the creation, the newly formed Armenian army has demonstrated its military power, has become the guarantee for the country’s independence and the nation’s security, and has gained the trust and the love of the Armenian people. The Armenian nation in Armenia, Artsakh and Diaspora properly celebrates the anniversary of the Armenian Armed Forces, the faithful guards of the Armenian borders, maintaining peace in the country.
